Prayer for EWTN
Mother Angelica offered this prayer at the launch of EWTN, August 15, 1981.
O God, Lord of heaven and earth, You alone have accomplished all we have done. May this first Catholic satellite television network be a tribute to the beauty of Your Church. May Your Son, the Eternal Word, be glorified through this great work of Your hands. Bless all the programs that will issue forth from its facilities. Just as Your Word issues forth from You, Lord Father, may that same Word touch each heart that listens to this network. Let Thy Spirit work with freedom through every teacher who proclaims Thy truth and Thy Church. Bestow upon this network the power to inspire men to seek holiness of heart, zeal for the extension of Thy Church, courage to seek after justice and human rights, and the patience to endure persecution. May Thy Paternal Blessing always rest upon it. Amen.
Family Spirit Prayer
Offered by Mother Angelica
Oh, Holy Trinity, let me live within You that we may share and speak as friend speaks to friend. Let our union of mind and heart, through the power of Your Spirit, enable me to live as one with You. Let the power of that union touch the hearts of everyone around me so all may share in our harmony together in Your Spirit. Let my family, community, parish and nation live within and grow in this family spirit so the world may know Jesus is Lord and that Your love embraces all mankind. Amen.
Prayer from Evangeli Gaudium
Offered by Pope Francis
Virgin and Mother, you who, moved by the Holy Spirit, welcomed the word of life in the depths of your humble faith: as you gave yourself completely to the Eternal One, help us to say our own "yes" to the urgent call, as pressing as ever, to proclaim the good news of Jesus. Filled with Christ's presence, you brought joy to John the Baptist, making him exult in the womb of his mother. Brimming over with joy, you sang of the great things done by God. Standing at the foot of the cross with unyielding faith, you received the joyful comfort of the resurrection, and joined the disciples in awaiting the Spirit so that the evangelizing Church might be born. Obtain for us now a new ardour born of the resurrection, that we may bring to all the Gospel of life which triumphs over death. Give us a holy courage to seek new paths, that the gift of unfading beauty may reach every man and woman. Virgin of listening and contemplation, Mother of love, Bride of the eternal wedding feast, pray for the Church, whose pure icon you are, that she may never be closed in on herself or lose her passion for establishing God's kingdom. Star of the new evangelization, help us to bear radiant witness to communion, service, ardent and generous faith, justice and love of the poor, that the joy of the Gospel may reach to the ends of the earth, illuminating even the fringes of our world. Mother of the living Gospel, wellspring of happiness for God's little ones, pray for us. Amen. Alleluia!
Prayer for EWTN
EWTN Family Prayers, offered by Fr. Joseph Mary Wolfe, MFVA
Lord Jesus, Eternal Word, Splendor of the Father, we adore You! We thank you for the Eternal Word Television Network which began in order to defend Your Glory. Use EWTN to bring faith to non-believers and to help those of other Religions to discover You, the way, the truth and the life. Use EWTN to bring conversion to sinners and to those who are indifferent or hostile to the Faith. Bless EWTN that it may be Your instrument of mercy. Amen.
Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me a channel of Thy peace,
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong,
I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord,
I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows,
I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort
than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.
