When EWTN launched 24-hour programming in 1987, hungry Catholics began volunteer efforts in their cities to work with local cable companies to add EWTN full-time to their channel line-up. These volunteer campaigns spread like wildfire - and soon, it became evident that there were literally thousands of interested supporters willing to help Mother Angelica and the Network reach more souls. We are very fortunate that thousands of these supporters are still helping us today in our volunteer effort. However, EWTN needs more help than ever before with almost all of the approximately 100 million U.S. households having access to broadcast television, over 60 million having access to cable television and over 215 million U.S. households with Internet capabilities.
